Terms of Service

These Terms govern your use of Skrybo. Please read them carefully before creating an account.

Last updated: July 2026

1. Acceptance of terms

By creating an account, signing in, or otherwise accessing the Skrybo web application, API, or any hosted or self-hosted instance (the “Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service (“Terms”). If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

If you are using the Service on behalf of an organisation, you represent that you have authority to bind that organisation and these Terms apply to that organisation.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. By registering you confirm that the information you provide is accurate and that you will keep it current.

3. Accounts, authentication, and security

Accounts are managed through Better Auth. You are responsible for safeguarding your credentials, for enabling two-factor authentication where available, and for all activity under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorised use.

  • Sessions are cookie-based (httpOnly, SameSite=Lax).
  • Passwords are hashed with scrypt; Skrybo never stores plaintext passwords.
  • Vendor credentials (e.g. Google Search Console refresh tokens) are encrypted at rest with AES-256-GCM.
  • Cross-account requests return 404 — never 403 — so resource existence never leaks.

4. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to violate any applicable law, regulation, or third-party right.
  • Attempt to access another account’s data, reverse-engineer the Service, or circumvent rate limits or usage caps.
  • Abuse the free tier, lead-audit endpoints, or any rate-limited route to degrade the Service for others.
  • Resell or redistribute raw vendor data (DataForSEO, Google, etc.) obtained through the Service without an applicable plan.
  • Introduce malware, scrapers, or automated load that harms the Service or its providers.

Violations may result in suspension, usage throttling, or account termination without refund.

5. Plans, billing, and credits

The Service offers four subscription tiers and optional add-on credit packs. Current pricing is published on the Pricing page.

  • Payments are processed by Polar (polar.sh). Skrybo does not store your full card number.
  • Monthly plans are billed in advance; yearly plans receive a 20% discount and are billed annually.
  • Usage caps (tracked keywords, audits, backlink rows, AI summaries, seats) are enforced per plan before any vendor spend occurs. Cache hits still count toward your allowance.
  • Credit packs (additional keywords or audits) are one-time purchases that expand your allowance.
  • Subscriptions may be paused for up to 90 days through the billing portal.

All amounts are charged in the currency displayed at checkout. Taxes, where applicable, are added by Polar at the applicable rate for your region.

6. Refunds and cancellations

You can cancel a subscription at any time from the billing portal. Cancellation stops renewal; your plan remains active until the end of the current billing period.

Refund requests for unused time on yearly plans may be considered on a case-by-case basis. Contact support@skrybo.com within 14 days of a charge to request a review. Monthly plans are non-refundable once the billing period has started.

7. Self-hosting and open-source use

Skrybo is Docker-first and self-hostable. When you run the Service on your own infrastructure:

  • You are solely responsible for securing your infrastructure, encryption keys, database backups, and secrets.
  • These Terms apply to your use of the software, but Skrybo has no access to your data and bears no responsibility for data loss, downtime, or misconfiguration on self-hosted instances.
  • You remain responsible for complying with vendor terms (DataForSEO, Google APIs, etc.) you configure on your instance.

8. Intellectual property

Skrybo retains all rights, title, and interest in the Service, including its software, design, branding, and documentation. The Skrybo name, logo, and domain (skrybo.com) are protected marks.

Audit reports, AI-generated summaries, and rank-tracking data you produce through the Service belong to you. You may export them as CSV or JSON at any time.

Vendor-sourced data (rank results, backlink rows, keyword metrics) is licensed from upstream providers and subject to their terms; you may not resell or redistribute it independently.

9. Privacy and data

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which describes the data we collect, how it is encrypted, and your rights including GDPR export and deletion.

10. Service availability

The Service is provided on a commercially reasonable basis. We do not guarantee uninterrupted access. Maintenance windows, vendor outages, or force-majeure events may cause downtime. Critical incidents are communicated through in-app alerts or email where possible.

Skrybo is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from service interruption.

11. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the data-rights section of the app. Deletion enters a 30-day grace period (configurable) and a final warning email is sent 24 hours before the purge. After the grace period, your data is permanently removed unless under legal hold.

Skrybo may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, that remain unpaid, or that pose a security risk. Upon termination, export windows for your data are limited to the active billing period.

12. Disclaimers and limitation of liability

The Service is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind. SEO rankings, AI-citation data, and audit findings are informational and do not guarantee specific search-engine outcomes.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Skrybo’s aggregate liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid in the preceding 12 months (or, for free-tier users, USD $50).

13. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws applicable to the jurisdiction where Skrybo operates. Any dispute will first be attempted through good-faith negotiation. If unresolved, disputes will be resolved through binding arbitration or the competent courts, depending on your jurisdiction.

You may bring claims only in your individual capacity, not as a plaintiff or class member in any class or representative proceeding.

14. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced by email (to verified accounts) or in-app at least 30 days before taking effect. Continued use after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
